Hidden Birds
Hidden Birds uses an algorithm duo to find birds that are hidden inside the almost-infinite space of possible color stains and curves laid on a canvas. At what moment do stains and lines become a bird?
The first algorithm, the artist (a customised DiffVG), places some color stains on the blank paper, and then calls upon an art critic (CLIP) to examine it and determine whether a bird was indeed found.
When the art is not birdish enough, the algorithm will follow the art critic’s tiny hints, looking for more bird-like compositions until it crosses a certain threshold and the composition is declared a bird.
Some of the birds are available at my OpenSea page, or as a hybrid physical print + NFT.
